DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
"Farewell" was my first short film out of film school. It's a film that explores darker themes of loneliness and suicide, but is ultimately about the importance of family and those who care for you. I had been on a few productions that never really saw the light of day, and that sort of kicked me into gear to start producing my own shorts. I wanted to keep it small and keep it simple. We shot the film in one day (plus a couple hours for motel exteriors when it was particularly rainy out) in one location with a skeleton crew in April and completed the short two months later. Although I've learned and advanced a lot as a filmmaker since making "Farewell", it's still a film I'm proud of and that I'm happy I made when I made it.
